A sad day for music fans: Amy Winehouse dies at 27. Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings and the entire Daptone Records family issue a statement

23 Jul

It is a sad day for music fans. I am absolutely gutted to hear that Amy Winehouse has passed away. She was an incredible talent and I am so glad she graced us with her music for as long as she did. My heart and thoughts go out to all of her family and friends. The following Statement is being issued on behalf of Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings and the entire Daptone Records Family:

“We are very sad to have lost Amy Winehouse today. She was one of a kind and we were fortunate to have had the chance to make music with her. She was always gracious and a pleasure to work with in the studio and on the road. She brought a lot of people joy with her voice and her irreverent personality. It is a tragedy that she was taken from us so soon when she had much more music to give.”

This is one of my absolute favorites of hers, let’s celebrate her talent together:

Stay safe everyone. Look out for each other.

I know I’ve talked about epic music videos before but GOOD GODDESS this is BEAUTIFUL. Directed by Christopher Tirrell, this epic music video fits this incredible song, “Inflammable Heart” by Man Without Country, perfectly. I can’t wait to buy their album “Foe”! If you live in the UK make sure you check them out on tour. I completely recommend making this video full screen (and TURN IT UP)!
