band i wanna date / new music video xx: The Vaccines “Tiger Blood”

30 Nov

Sigh. I feel like I say it every time, but I adore the boys of The Vaccines. I had the opportunity to meet them in NY and in Philly and they are seriously the sweetest. I was able to see them live three times this year in the US and they completely rock. I love their fun, youthful and perfectly cheeky songs and I am so stoked for the upcoming album that this gem, “Tiger Blood” is on. If you can, check out The Vaccines live. I feel like they are always touring, even when a band member is extremely ill and they probably shouldn’t be (*cough* lead singer Justin Young *cough*). Why? Because they love and are extremely passionate about what they do (as all musicians should be), and you can see it in their music, music videos, live performances, and encounters with their fans. When it comes to The Vaccines, what’s not to love? Date me, all of you.

Epic Music Video xx: Fleet Foxes “The Shrine/ An Argument”

30 Nov

To me, Fleet Foxes are perfect. Everything they have ever released from music, album art, music videos to their live performances has been constantly flawless. I love a band that lives and breathes the music they make. Fleet Foxes are a band that make everything seem so effortless, yet their work is so sophisticated, dynamic and just plain beautiful. I own both of their albums and was stoked to find that one of my favorite songs off their sophomore album released this year, Helplessness Blues, entitled “The Shrine /An Argument” has a new music video. The video is 8 minutes and 24 seconds of gorgeous storytelling through animation by Sean Pecknold, the brother of Fleet Foxes frontman Robin Pecknold. Check it out below and make sure you buy their albums here.

Good goddess this song is so beautiful. I heard it at work and it just gave me so much energy to tackle all my work for the day. I love the gorgeous and playful harmonies and the dynamic, layered instrumentals. Peggy Sue is a band from Brighton, England. This song “D.U.M.B.O” is from the band’s second album Acrobats which is available here.

lovelovelove: Life in Film “The Idiot”

29 Nov

I adore this dreamy and upbeat song from London-based band Life in Film. Maybe it’s the winter blues, but I have definitely been in the mood for catchy upbeat songs that reminds me of summer. I can’t wait to hear more of their music!

lovelovelove: St. Lucia “We Got It Wrong”

28 Nov

Every once in a while we all need an energy boost, and when coffee isn’t cutting it, songs like “We Got It Wrong” by St. Lucia are the perfect remedy. This energetic, gorgeously layered, brilliant song is a perfect youth anthem. It always makes me happy when I hear it and somehow makes me forget my troubles, or realize they aren’t a big deal in the first place. St. Lucia’s debut EP is out now on HeavyRoc music, buy it here!

obsessed xx: The Early November announce new album tonight!!!

27 Nov

At the end of their reunion show tonight at Starland Ballroom in NJ, Ace Enders lead singer of The Early November asked everyone to turn on their phones and record their next announcement. Playing to hundreds of screaming and devoted fans tonight, so stoked that one of their favorite bands have reunited after 5 long years, the boys of The Early November have officially announced they will be writing and recording a new album for us. With all the energy and brilliance of the show there couldn’t have been any better way to end it. For me, and most other fans The Early November have been a staple to the soundtrack of my youth. I listened to them during the best of times and worst of times, and went to every concert in the Philadelphia area for 5 years and was devastated when they broke up. They are one of the best groups of musicians and nicest guys. Seeing them live is magical for the energy they give off to their fans and the electricity they have playing with each other. You can see how much fun they have together as friends and band mates, and it is truly inspiring. I can’t wait to hear how their experiences from the past five years will influence their songwriting. I am absolutely positive new album will be brilliant and will keep you posted with any more updates as soon as I hear them!

This year, I was able to see one of my favorite artists, Dirty Beaches, live three times: twice in Philly and once in NY. Seeing him at Glasslands in Brooklyn, NY with my best friends was incredible, and I have gig photos to prove it. I love taking photos at shows because you can really capture the movement, energy and passion of the person playing, and I especially love seeing it in these photos.
