obsessed xx: Thumpers “Unkinder (A Tougher Love)” out June 3rd!!!

Wow. I could not be more obsessed with this song right now! I kept hearing songs from Thumpers thinking “I really like this!!”, I would write them down and then realize I’ve written them down on every piece of paper surrounding my desk, all different songs by the band. They are undeniably going to be a special part of my summer soundtrack. Their upbeat (and very addicting) tracks are perfect for dancing and singing along to…especially “Unkinder (A Tougher Love)” made even easier to sing along to thanks to the lyric video Thumpers released.

This new single, taken from their UNKINDER EP will be available on June 3rd through Transgressive Records!There will also be a limited edition 12″ vinyl released I need to get my hands on. I can’t even believe this band started only a year ago. I am desperate to hear their music in a live setting, their music can seriously shake your bad day blues away and I bet the positive vibes their music radiates is even more powerful live.

Thumpers have a slew of shows coming up (hellooooo festival season! You UK kids are SO lucky…never forget it!), so make sure you follow them on SongKick and see them in a city near you!

Philly show NOT to be missed xx: Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Foxygen at First Unitarian Church!!!!

Dream of all dreams!! Tomorrow night is the night that the brilliant and gorgeous Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Foxygen play their sold out show in Philadelphia at First Unitarian Church.

There are some bands that you just cannot deny. It was love at first listen for me with Unknown Mortal Orchestra. Unknown Mortal Orchestra or UMO, as they are lovingly known by those too lazy to type or speak, have just released one of my favorite albums of this year, a follow up to their debut album cheekily entitled II through their new label Jagjaguwar. A perfect mix of psych rock, fun, and everything you love about your favorite classic vinyl, these three beautiful boys make some glorious music that your parents will probably love just as much as you (in the best way possible). While in the midst of a tour which will most likely sell out completely, Unknown Mortal Orchestra will be laying down their addictive tracks live to a packed house in Philly tomorrow night at First Unitarian Church. I am so stoked to check out their music live along with their support band Foxygen again later in Texas at SXSW. If you have tickets to the Philly show tomorrow I better see you with your dancing shoes on tight, and make sure you get there on time to catch the brilliant Foxygen opening. If you can’t see them in Philly check out the rest of their tour here and make sure you get tickets ASAP before they sell out!!

obsessed xx: JAMES BLAKE HAS ANNOUNCED HIS NEW ALBUM!!!!

EVERYONE TAKE DEEP BREATHS… James Blake has announced his new album, and thank our lucky stars it will be out sooner than you think.

James Blake’s new album titled Overgrown will be out 4 blessed days after my birthday, April 8th. At 2:30 PM (EST) he will give his first single, “Retrograde”, a spin (with my favorite) Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1, you can listen here!!

Blake also announced a North American tour in which he will be stopping by Philly on May 11th at the TLA. For more dates see below. I absolutely cannot wait to hear new music from one of my favorite men.

lovelovelove: Richard Hawley “Standing at the Sky’s Edge” out today!!

I am super stoked to announce that I am now also writing for the sweet UK music blog and online radio station The Chaunt. This is one of my first posts for them but obviously I had to let you all know about this incredible new album by Richard Hawley out today in the US (finally!).

Richard Hawley is an absolute legend. You might know him from 1990s Brit-Pop group Longpigs, his playing with Pulp, his work with Elbow, or maybe his knee-weakening collaboration with another bunch of musicians from Sheffield, Arctic Monkeys track “You And I”?

Maybe this will be your first time hearing him, either way, it’s your lucky day. Richard Hawley has a new album out Standing at the Sky’s Edge available through Mute Records in the UK and in the US today!

From it he is releasing his new music video for his second single off the album “Down in the Woods”. The single is a perfect example of his mystical, entrancing vocals and his gritty, raw, textured and straight up mesmerizing guitar sound. Some of my favorite tracks from the album are “She Brings The Sunlight”, “Down In The Woods”, “Leave Your Body Behind You” and “Before”. obsessed xx: AlunaGeorge “Your Drums, Your Love”

I’ve been obsessed with everything I’ve heard from AlunaGeorge so far, they are definitely one of my favorite bands right now. But, this track….. IS MY JAM. I heard this and my heart stopped, I love it so much. The production is brilliant, the lyrics are incredible, the track is a perfect mixture of chill with an addicting refrain that is impossible not to get your dance on to. “Your Drums, Your Love” will be available to download on October 7th, and you can play around making your own version with a sampler app on their website here. AlunaGeorge will be playing some gigs in the UK and France so look for dates near you here!!

lovelovelove: Firefly in Instagram Photos // Limited discount tickets on sale for next year tomorrow!!

Everyone is still buzzing from Firefly, the festival absolutely rocked this weekend. For me, the weekend involved me seeing some of my absolute favorite bands and musicians including Jack White, The Black Keys, Bombay Bicycle Club, Reptar, Yeasayer, Grouplove, Graffiti6, Modest Mouse and The Killers…and also sleeping in a van for 3 days, sneaking in hotels to get ready for the day, and dancing 10+ hours a day. AKA living the dream. I had so much fun seeing some of my favorite bands here are some photos I uploaded over the course of the incredible weekend on my Instagram (@mylifeinsound). If you missed Firefly this year, or are missing it already because you were there, a limited number of discounted tickets will be going on sale tomorrow at noon ET here for the 2013 Firefly Music Festival. The line up is to be announced, but if it is anything like the lineup this year, it is going to be RAD.

Sad times at Ridgemont high!!! It is the last day of the epic Firefly Music Festival. A closing to an incredible weekend of singing and dancing along to my favorite artists, today I look forward to seeing Reptar, Bombay Bicycle Club (for the 5th time? 6th?), Cold War Kids, Tinie Tempah, Death Cab For Cutie, Girl Talk, and The Black Keys!! obsessed xx: First Day of Firefly Music Festival!!!!!

YAY!!! The day I’ve been waiting for, for what seems like forever is finally here! The first day of Firefly Music Festival in Dover, Delaware. I will be covering the festival this weekend so check back for photos and interviews next week and keep up with me at the festival by following @Mylifeinsound on Twitter and CherylDunnisFun on Instagram! After a crazy busy week at work this festival could not come soon enough. I took a half day today so I have a little more to get through before I get to enjoy The Wallflowers, Ok Go, John Legend, Silversun Pickups, and most importantly *swoon* Jack White tonight!!!!! After releasing one of my favorite records of al time let alone this year so far, I will be seeing Jack White perform songs from his brilliant album Blunderbuss. My friend and I will be camping and I will be packing tonight. Any secret tips of what I should bring? Here is most likely what I am wearing Day 1:


In honor of Jack White and Blunderbuss I am keeping it blue and black with a Volcom top and BDG shorts, with my favorite weather ready shoes, my black Dr. Martens.

lovelovelove: Passion Pit “Take A Walk” Music Video featuring Philly!

Passion Pit created a dizzying music video for their new single “Take A Walk” from their upcoming album Gossamer which releases July 24th. The video puts you in the view of a ball that really gets around. Even better it gets around our town as Philadelphia is featured in the video! Passion Pit are starting tour in the US late June in Boston and they are playing several festivals including recently announced Outside Lands Festival and Firefly Music Festival in Dover, Delaware which I absolutely cannot wait for. obsessed xx / Epic Music Video: Azealia Banks “Liquorice”

Just when I thought I couldn’t love Azealia Banks any more, she releases the super hot track “Liquorice” and a sick music video to represent it. I am absolutely obsessed with this track, the video, and my dream outfit which she wears in the opening of the video: all American flag, including her nails. The beautifully directed video with a western, Americana, (and Azealia being gorgeous in the woods and surrounded by fire) theme is a Rankin Film Production. Her debut EP 1991 is out now through Itunes, cd, and vinyl. Azealia Banks is definitely one of my favorite artists right now, she keeps it real and as a perfect mixture of a brilliant lyricist, rapper and singer, she has her own unmatchable sound. I can’t wait to hear more from her and hopefully catch her live this year. She is play a bunch of festivals all over the world this summer so make sure you see her if she is playing one near you!
