Wow. I could not be more obsessed with this song right now! I kept hearing songs from Thumpers thinking “I really like this!!”, I would write them down and then realize I’ve written them down on every piece of paper surrounding my desk, all different songs by the band. They are undeniably going to be a special part of my summer soundtrack. Their upbeat (and very addicting) tracks are perfect for dancing and singing along to…especially “Unkinder (A Tougher Love)” made even easier to sing along to thanks to the lyric video Thumpers released.
This new single, taken from their UNKINDER EP will be available on June 3rd through Transgressive Records! There will also be a limited edition 12″ vinyl released I need to get my hands on. I can’t even believe this band started only a year ago. I am desperate to hear their music in a live setting, their music can seriously shake your bad day blues away and I bet the positive vibes their music radiates is even more powerful live.
Thumpers have a slew of shows coming up (hellooooo festival season! You UK kids are SO lucky…never forget it!), so make sure you follow them on SongKick and see them in a city near you!
What a great morning, to wake up and see this in my email. The 1975 released a gorgeous new video for their single “The City”, and as I expected I’m obsessed with it. Shot in black and white, the video features some breathtaking imagery of not only the band playing, but tiny stories played out by actors, some with moving projections of city life covering their skin. Their single “The City” is one of the incredible tracks from their self-titled upcoming album The 1975 due out (hopefully) this September. I seriously cannot wait for this record to come out. I need to make sure there is a vinyl with my name on it on my record player no later than October 1st…it will most likely be on constant rotation in my house from that point on (sorry I’m not sorry in advance housemates!). But until then, their next EP IV will be out May 20th! The 1975 will be back in the US to tour with The Neighbourhood! Both bands will be playing Johnny Brenda’s in Philadelphia on June 25th, tickets go on sale tomorrow at noon here!

People are still asking me how SXSW was, and I can only really describe it as my personal heaven. Music literally everywhere all day and night. I got the opportunity to see some of my favorite artists I’ve never seen before, including one of my new absolute favorites, Rudimental.
I’ve heard Rudimental’s music before, and every track I heard I thought to myself “Wow, I really really like this”. But when I went to see them at SXSW I had no idea what I was in for. My friends all had other shows they wanted to see, so I said goodbye to them and stayed at Fader Fort for Rudimental. The next thing I knew, I was showered in incredible dance music and absolute positivity. Their instrumentals, vocals and lyrics just radiate hope. In this giant crowd of people I didn’t know, I was dancing, smiling, and got the chills as everyone around me sang back “I know you said it’s true I can feel the love can you feel it too? I can feel it all” during “Feel The Love” ft. John Newman, sung live by the gorgeous Thomas Jules. Another track that had me beaming during their set was “Waiting All Night” ft. (and sung live by) the beautiful Ella Eyre.
Ella Eyre’s voice is powerful enough on it’s own, but she sings with such passion and conviction, and just gives it her all on stage, I was a bit taken aback by how moved I was by hearing the song live. When I came back to my normal (non-SXSW) life, I was so excited to see that Rudimental released a new music video for the track, “Waiting All Night” featuring Ella Eyre. The video, which features all real clips of San Francisco born BMX Champion and Actor Kurt Yaeger, who, after an accident in 2006, became an amputee. The video, like their music and live set, is so beautiful and inspiring.
I was also ecstatic to find out that Rudimental is also coming to Philly for Jay-Z’s Made in America Festival August 31st and September 1st!! The festival was so much fun last year and if you didn’t get a chance to go, this is the year to do so…and make sure Rudimental is on your list of bands not to miss! Rudimental also have a UK tour coming up in October, dates below!
I have to say for a song I love so, so, SO much…this is the best possible music video I could have ever seen for it. Follow the life of a man who swallowed a boom box, which unfortunately for him is playing “Need U (100%)” on repeat…leading everyone around him to dance maniacally while he tries to go about his normal life. Check out the hilarious video now, and make sure you see Duke Dumont on his short run of US tour dates, hitting Voyeur in Philly on May 16th!! See you on the dance floor!
I seriously can’t get enough of Burns right now. After releasing “Lies” and “Poison/No One Else” (coming out as special UK Record Store Day release this Saturday!), Burns has outdone himself with a stunning new music video based in a decaying church to portray his new single “Limitless”. Check out the video below! Burns will be celebrating the release of “Limitless”, out May 13th through Deconstruction/Columbia, with a live show at The Nest in London on May 14th, and you can get your tickets here.
Tonight there is an absolutely epic, dreamy, night of music taking place at one of my favorite intimate venues in Philly, North Star Bar. Chicago’s brilliant Young Man, will be performing with Philly greats Mike Bruno & Black Magic Family Band and Gemini Wolf, as well as Florida’s Peace Arrow as support.
Young Man is on tour in support of their new record, Beyond Was All Around Me, out now on Frenchkiss Records (one of my favorite labels!). The album is the closing record in a trilogy by Young Man including 2011′s Ideas of Distance and 2012′s Vol 1. The album opens with an enchanting and soothing “It’s Alright” and leads into the upbeat, cheeky “Josie”, and gets absolutely real with the third track (and my favorite) “In Time”. “In Time” is 6 minutes and 59 seconds of absolute heaven… with story telling vocals Young Man is known for, glorious guitars and drums that will force you to dance, it’s impossible not to get lost in the track. The song reminds me of some of my favorite classic rock tracks including beautiful vocal harmonies reminiscent of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. “In Time” must be absolutely breathtaking to see live. The record is so addicting, I found myself starring every song in Spotify and had to stop myself out of pure embarrassment.
The show tonight is bound to be enchanting so make sure you get to North Star Bar at 8PM so you don’t miss any of the incredible bands playing! Tickets are only $10 and you can get them here or at the door tonight!
Big Deal go on a good trip that turns very bad in their horrifyingly awesome new music video, directed by Danny Perez, for their single “In Your Car”. Although I might have nightmares tonight I just can’t stop watching, and the song is so good it’s hard for me to not keep pressing replay. Their new album June Gloom is due out on June 4th, and between this track and their heavy, electric, epic and raw new release “Teradactol” I can’t fucking wait to get my hands, ears, and record player on it. Check out both tracks below and make sure you are at your local record store on June 4th to pick up your copy of June Gloom.
British model and actress Lily Cole stars in the epic new music video for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs first single “Sacrilege” off their upcoming record MOSQUITO due out April 15th in the UK and april 16th in the US. The new video, directed by Megaforce, is an epic visual return and representation of the song, which for me has been on repeat since I first heard it. I am so stoked to hear and get my hands on the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs album and catch them at more festivals this summer!
Good goddess. I cannot get enough of this gorgeous London-based Australian singer Josef Salvat. Your new favorite person to follow on Twitter, and your new favorite singer, Josef Salvat is releasing his mesmerizing new single “This Life” on March 25th. On March 26th he will be supporting Willy Moon at The Haunt in Brighton so if you are in the area get your tickets now here. Josef Salvat is definitely another artist to look out for in 2013, promising via Twitter to release new music soon, if you get a chance to catch him live and hear it first definitely do and let us know how lovely it is!
After being in love with Coves track “No Ladder” for quite some time, I was knocked back when I heard this electric new track “Last Desire”. Today, Coves released some pretty sick visuals to go along with their guitar heavy, trippy, and addicting new track. With mesmerizing guitars and enchanting vocals, it’s hard not to get ‘love struck’ from the track.
Through 1965 Records, the new single will be released on March 18th.Coves will be touring the UK in support of Dutch Uncles and will finish the tour with a headlining show at Birthdays in March! I can’t wait to hear more from Coves and hopefully see them live in the States this year!
