Philly show NOT to be missed xx: The Amazing and Tame Impala tonight at Union Transfer!!!!

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! For those of us lucky enough to have tickets to the very sold-out Tame Impala show tonight with The Amazing as support are in for an ultra-dreamy night of music.

Some of my favorite Aussies on earth, Tame Impala, return to Philly after releasing their new record Lonerism, which, I think it’s fair to say, is a favorite of everyone who has heard it. I am so stoked to see them again tonight at one of my favorite venues in the city Union Transfer.

Here is a shot I took last year when they played First Unitarian Church, aka a church basement that got sweaty as soon as Tame Impala entered the room.

Not much else to say about this photo besides God bless Australia.

Tame Impala fans are extra lucky this tour as the band has brought along Sweden’s The Amazing as support. The Amazing have also released a gorgeous new album, Gentle Stream, that I can’t stop listening to. The record sounds like one you would find in your parents collection of classics: where they have one copy that looked like it got played at least twice every day throughout the 60s and 70s to today; and another copy in it’s original packaging in a frame on the wall. In fact, that’s not a bad idea because I am sure this is a record our future kids will look back on and say “You had it so good back in the day! Your music was incredible! I can’t believe you saw The Amazing and Tame Impala live!”. Gentle Stream is nostalgic, free-spirited and hopeful, and somehow confuses my heart into believing it’s still summer even though it is snowing outside… and that is a record I want to keep very close at all times.

I can’t wait to see both bands live tonight. If you have tickets, doors are at 8 and the show starts at 8:30, so make sure you get there on time so you don’t miss any of The Amazing, and as usual if you see me come say hi! Tame Impala and The Amazing will be continuing their tour hitting Boston tomorrow, and ending in Los Angeles on the 17th, make sure you see them in a city near you!
