Bo Staloch’s unique musical talent and charming charisma were in full mesmerizing display during his packed sold-out show at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn, NY this past Wednesday night. His voice was full of raw emotional heart as he performed many of his songs that has become so beloved by his fans.

What’s striking is his mastery of dynamics and the concept of musical buildup—I love how his songs slowly build up to a rapturing crescendo creating interesting emotional peaks and valleys within his music—it’s a common DNA in all of his work. He really shined when he showcased his powerful and dynamic vocal range; he knows how and when to hold a note—and when to hit it softly or go harder and bolder—his sense of control really elevates the song in a live setting that he sounds equal to, if not better, than his studio tracks. This was evident from the start, when he opened the set with “Your Eyes Tell Stories,” a perfect introduction to what he is about—strong folk and Americana roots but with expressive shades of alt rock energy that’s reminiscent of the likes of Bon Iver. The entire audience was obsessed. One standout song was when he performed his latest single, “Born To,” a thoughtful introspective love song, which became an immediate crowd favorite. His band provided the perfect support throughout the set—the drummer and the bass player laid out the perfect rock pocket for Bo to fully express himself, while his guitarist added some inspired Hendrix style lyrical guitar flourishes that swirled the energy in the right places.

His music firmly lives in the moment. But when he sat down to perform “The Garden,” he muses about what may lay ahead as he sings about his future kids. He possess a natural charming personality and evokes a genuine wholesome energy that adds a lot of sincerity into his music. The notion of family is very important to him—not to mention how much he loves and admires his mom and praised her during the show for being an inspiration and supportive during the tour. (She also designed his merch.) And speaking of inspiration, his Fleetwood Mac cover of The Chain feels like the a very fitting tribute from Bo and this beautifully played cover flowed very well with the rest of his set.

Bo Staloch continues to have a banner year, and this performance continues to cement his rising star status.
