Show Recap: Gang Of Youths at World Cafe Live!

5 Jun

Gang of Youths are an Australia-based band of megababes (soon moving to London) that we just can’t get enough of right now. Our writer/photographer Sarah went to their World Cafe Live show last Friday for the first stop of the band’s American Tour.

After the successful release of the band’s debut album The Positions Gang of Youths head out on a 10 city tour across the US before heading back to Australia to tour and we couldn’t be more excited that Philly was their first stop. Playing World Cafe Live (upstairs) it was the perfect, intimate venue to see a band that performs at a stadium-worthy level. Blown away by their big sound and their signature brand of rock and roll, the crowd couldn’t help but be knocked out by their musically tight performance and raw energy. With hair flying and slaying riffs, the audience left the show ready to go on tour with the band just to experience the show again! Check out photos below and don’t miss Gang Of Youths on tour!

Maggie Rogers new EP “Now That The Light Is Fading” Out Now!!!!

Maggie Rogers released her EP Now That The Light Is Fading today!

After a gorgeous television debut performance of “Alaska” on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Maggie Rogers dropped her highly anticipated new EP Now That The Light Is Fading today! You can purchase/stream the EP now through multiple venues listed on her website here.

Maggie Rogers is off to a blazing start this year, selling out most of her tour, with announced performances at several festivals around the world including SXSW this March, and now with the release of this gorgeous new EP, we have a new set of songs to discover live. There is something extremely nostalgic and warming about Maggie Rogers’ voice. The storytelling lyrics that weave through each track on this EP connect on a deeper level, as if the EP was made and released by an old friend who truly understands you. One of my favorite tracks off Now That The Light Is Fading is the upbeat and mesmerizing “Better”. “Better” is one of those songs you find yourself dancing to without even releasing it, and like her other tracks, the vocals and lyrics are impossible not to sing along to.

The other song you might not recognize yet from the EP is “Color Song”. The hymn-remiscient minimalist tune features stunning vocal harmonies and nature sounds, like what you would imagine camping with Maggie Rogers would be like. We’ll start the fire and set up camp to hear those vocals all day!

The EP also includes previously released favorites “Alaska”, “On + Off” and “Dog Years”. Listen to each track below and finally get your copy of this gorgeous debut EP via Maggie Roger’s website here.

Maggie Rogers will be heading to Philly to play a sold out show at The Foundry on April 7th! For more tour dates and information, click here.

morning jam xx: Interpol “All The Rage Back Home”

22 Jul

interpol

Interpol have been all the rage in my heart for years now. I recently became fixated on listening to their albums on repeat, so they could not have picked a better time to release new music into my life. “All The Rage Back Home” picks up right where Interpol left off, by delivering us mesmerizing instrumentals, infectious lyrics, and sing-a-long chorus’ that stay in your head for days. “All The Rage Back Home” is a strong first single from what should be an epic new album from the band. Interpol’s new album El Pintor is available now for pre-order here!

Interpol have announced a North American and European tour. Sadly, Philadelphia’s show at Union Transfer has sold out so hopefully you got your tickets! If not, Interpol just announced additional dates for NYC, London, and Dublin. For more information about when Interpol is coming to your town and to get your tickets click here.
