Khruangbin slayed The Met Wednesday night, for their second of three consecutive Philadelphia shows. Following their opener, John Caroll Kirby, Khruangbin played two full sets themselves with an intermission between, encompassing a long night of an experience that can only be described as psychedelic jazz.
Prior to the show, the Met hosted an outdoor beer garden that could only be accessed with a ticket to the show. Concertgoers could drink and mingle, and despite the Met being a seated venue, most people were dressed somewhere between disco and festival. These people were here to have a good time, and they absolutely did.
Khruangbin’s first set consisted of their latest album, A LA SALA, played all the way through, while their second set was a mix of favorites from previous works, including “Father Bird, Mother Bird,” and “People Are Everywhere (Still Alive).”
Overall, Khruangbin executed a spectacular performance. They will continue the A LA SALA tour along the east coast before heading to the midwest. The tour will conclude in Dublin, Ireland, on November 24, so there is still plenty of time to catch a show.
It’s Thai for “airplane.”
