The Japanese House hit Orlando on the fourth stop of their 2024 U.S. tour, delivering an unreal performance of their latest album, “In The End It Always Does.” Their visit was undoubtedly one of the best gifts Orlando could receive during Pride Month.

Amber Bain, the mastermind behind the project, The Japanese House, brought her unique blend of dream pop and indie electronic to life by creating an ethereal atmosphere. Bain’s stage presence is one of the most captivating we’ve ever seen. She connects with her audience not through any sort of grand gestures or pyrotechnics but through the raw, emotional authenticity of her lyrics. Bain opened with “Touching Yourself,” the second song on her latest album. The setlist was a carefully curated journey through The Japanese House’s discography. Standout performances included “Sunshine Baby,” a crowd favorite, and the first ever live performance of the newly released song “🙂” (Smiley Face). We were so lucky to be able to witness this special moment.

The Beacham, an intimate yet spacious setting, was perfect for The Japanese House’s aesthetic. Soft, ambient lighting complemented the delicate yet powerful soundscapes, casting a warm glow over the audience. The crowd, a mix of longtime followers and curious newcomers, kept the energy up the entire show.

One of the most impressive aspects of The Japanese House live is the attention to detail within the music. Bain, along with her supporting musicians, seamlessly blends electronic elements with live instruments, creating a lush, layered sound. The interplay between the synths and guitar, particularly on tracks like “Something Has to Change,” was nothing short of mesmerizing. This is what makes them so unique. Bain’s quiet charisma and unbelievable talent make The Japanese House a must see.
