The Catbite show at Milkboy Philly as part of the Philly Music Festival offered an exhilarating night filled with eclectic sounds and a palpable energy that lit up the intimate space. Catbite, known for their spirited take on ska and rocksteady, headlined the event with opening acts Queasy, Kuf Knotz and Christine Elise, and Reef the Lost Cauze, each of whom brought their unique musical flavor to the evening. Together, the lineup embodied the festival’s mission to celebrate and elevate the local music scene, creating a vibrant experience that left the audience buzzing.
The night kicked off with Queasy, a Philly-based “grunge gaze” band. On stage, Queasy lived up to the energy and emotion captured on their recordings, delivering a set that oscillated between intense and contemplative. The audience responded with enthusiasm, feeding off the band’s authentic punk ethos.
Next up were Kuf Knotz and Christine Elise, whose genre-blending style shifted the vibe to a more soulful, meditative space. Reef the Lost Cauze followed.. A Philly hip-hop legend, Reef’s name carries weight in the city’s underground scene. Known for his no-holds-barred style and unapologetically raw narratives, Reef captivated the audience, weaving stories of struggle, resilience, and identity that hit close to home. When Catbite finally took the stage, the crowd was already electric.
