Despite falling on Valentine’s Day, Greensky Bluegrass had no trouble packing College Street Music Hall in New Haven, CT. Dedicated fans braved the snowy conditions—some traveling up to two hours—to catch the band live, a testament to the loyal following they’ve cultivated over the years.
What sets Greensky Bluegrass apart in the genre is their ability to weave electric guitar into traditional bluegrass, giving their sound a distinctive edge. As one audience member put it, they’re “like Pink Floyd with a banjo.” With nearly two decades of experience, the five-piece band kept the crowd moving, creating an infectious energy that had pockets of people dancing throughout the night. Their set unfolded as an extended jam session, with songs seamlessly blending into one another, transforming the performance into a hypnotic, free-flowing musical journey.
Though the show stretched a bit late, wrapping up around 11:30 PM, the crowd didn’t seem to mind. The combination of amazing music and an electric atmosphere made for a concert experience that was well worth the late night.
