Tennessee artist, Ashley Monroe, put on a spectacular show at The Atlantis in Washington DC performing songs like “If The Devil Don’t Want Me”, “Like a Rose,” and “Wild Love,” as well as many other fan favorites. Monroe kept the audience engaged throughout the entirety of her performance, telling heartfelt stories in between soulful vocals. She has a way of being able to captivate a crowd by creating an intimate experience which stems from her being her most vulnerable self during the show. Monroe told stories about her past experiences and how she worked through them before diving into a song relevant to that story. You could tell this was a way help others relate to her music and help them feel it just as deep as she does.
Monroe also spoke about the artists she’s collaborated with and how those experiences have helped her grow creatively. She highlighted names like Miranda Lambert, Chris Stapleton, Gary Clark Jr., and Brendan Benson as key influences and partners in her journey. A true Tennessee talent, Monroe has expanded her artistry beyond vocals – she’s also an accomplished pianist and acoustic guitarist. If you ever get the chance to see her live, don’t hesitate – her performance is absolutely worth the ticket.
