On January 24th, Porcelain Raft is releasing his debut album Strange Weekend through one of my favorite-named record labels, Secretly Canadian. I was so stoked to give the album a listen before it comes out on the 24th. It seemed like the download took forever, but I think I was just eager. When my Itunes finally loaded and the record started playing, my first thought was “Am I dreaming?” in the best possible way. Porcelain Raft’s Strange Weekend is ten songs of dreamy, layered instrumentals, with hauntingly beautiful vocals. Some of my favorite tracks off the album include: “Drifting In And Out”, “Unless You Speak From Your Heart” (which I can definitely get my dance on to), “The End Of Silence” (1950s jukebox-heartache jam meets 2012), and “Put Me To Sleep” which you can stream below and download for free here. The album starts epically with “Drifting In And Out” and leaves you lightly with “The Way In”. Porcelain Raft is going on tour in Europe as support for another favorite of mine, M83, so if their tour is coming to a venue near you, definitely make sure you don’t miss that show!
