Last night, one of my favorite artists Kindness played in Philly for the first time for Making Time’s 12 Year Anniversary show. I was so stoked to see him again after seeing them play at SXSW. His new/debut album World You Need a Change of Mind is brilliant and seeing the songs performed live is a magical experience. When I went to the venue, I ran into some friends who never heard Kindness before, and as much as I told them they were in for a good time, I don’t think anyone realized until the show began. So many people there who were just there for a show, left huge fans. I love seeing my favorite bands gain new fans and exposure they deserve. The show started with “Cyan” and Adam Bainbridge, the man behind Kindness, brought some sweet dance moves to the party throughout the show. Playing a list of some of my favorite songs, they also did a sick cover of Jai Paul’s “Jasmine” and a little mix of the XX among his songs. Adam ventured off stage on multiple occasions singing and dancing with the crowd and occasionally borrowing at hat or sunglasses off the heads of dancing, stoked fans. His background singers were in fine form, adding gorgeous harmonies to the songs and his drummer was so energetic and happy it was hard to stop smiling or dancing the entire time. Overall, Kindness really did bring an epic party to Philadelphia last night. What started out as some major fans and a lot of unknowing music fans, quickly turned into a major dance party of all Kindness fans by the time the last song started. After Kindness ended the general conversation seemed to be, when are they coming back? I can tell you right now, not soon enough! I could watch them play every night of the week, it was such a blast! Kindness’ next stop is Australia, then major festivals across the globe, so if you get a chance to go to any of the festivals they are playing make sure you check them out live, you will have such a rad time!!
