We’ve been following the tour of Soraia, one of our favorite bands through front-woman and badass megbabe ZouZou Mansour. Life on the road got a little bumpy with an upper-respiratory infection ZouZou battled over the whole tour but you can’t stop rock or this band. Tonight is their last stop on their tour at O’Brien’s Pub in Boston, Massachusetts. So if you’re in Boston, make sure to see this epic band live, especially now that ZouZou’s voice is back with a vengeance.

I have to tell you, it’s a HUGE THRILL for this singer to be playing a venue I’ve seen some of my favorite acts in. WFMU’s Monty Hall is just that.
Two years ago, I saw The Detroit Cobras in the (then new) Monty Hall–a venue located directly underneath the infamous radio station WFMU-FM, playing some of the best rock n’ roll in the country and beyond.
I went to see a band I thought I just liked, and fell in love. What was — and is — special about Monty Hall to me is that it’s an intimate enough venue that you get to see people be themselves, and that was my experience when I saw The Detroit Cobras there back in 2015. They just talked through their set list. Got annoyed at the soundman and each other, and rocked the F*&^ out of all of us. I think we get so busy putting our favorite artists on pedestals, that we forget they’re human beings, too. They run the gamut of emotions, just like all of us, and why some of them have become my heroes is that they are utterly, unabashedly, raw: they are themselves. They don’t put on pretense, and that’s what I got to witness thanks to venues like Monty Hall.
AMAZING SHOW. AMAZING VENUE. AMAZING NIGHT.
The sound was killer, and my voice was at its best of tour since the first few dates. I was languid, smoky sex. Very few settings put me into that place with such ease. Monty Hall: thank you. And of course, my fucking amazing band.
Next night we played Hangar on the Hudson in Troy, NY. I found out Uncle Sam is buried up the street. There you go.
We got there and my voice felt and worked so good, I just wanted to play forever. The band and me — we hit a stride together. Everyone was fire. So good.
Next up is our last tour stop: Boston, Massachusetts tonight.
I have to say, I’m sad tour’s ending, especially since I know I finally have my voice at full throttle after that horrid upper respiratory infection. One thing I learned from it is how much my voice and this music and this band means to me. What a gift to get to understand on a soul level what you really need in life.
Last tour blog coming in a few days! Thanks for following along on my journey…..
xx ZouZou
