Belle and Sebastian made a stop in Philadelphia on their Spring 2024 North American Tour last Friday at Union Transfer with The Weather Station as their opener. They played an array of songs across several albums, including their most recent 2023 album, Late Developers

Notable songs include fan favorites such as “Get Me Away From Here, I’m Dying,” “Piazza, New York Catcher,” and “Boy With The Arab Strap,” during which they pulled about 20 crowd members (including a very determined friend of mine) up on stage!

About halfway through the show, lead singer Stuart Murdoch recounted a story from earlier that afternoon when he was wandering Rittenhouse park. A random person was playing a beat he recognized and he started to sing along. The song was “Time Of The Season” by The Zombies. The band played the first verse and chorus, encouraging the crowd to join in.

Stuart endearingly shared photos he had taken around the city earlier that day. When guitarist Stevie Jackson was asked what he was doing during Stuart’s adventures, he said he stayed in the hotel room with his wife which solicited laughs from the crowd. The band radiated such a warm energy and really made the entire crowd feel as though they were among friends.

Belle and Sebastian will conclude the U.S portion of this tour in Seattle on May 19th with show dates across the U.S and Canada. They have decided to extend the tour to Europe with their last performance taking place in Glasgow on August 3rd.
