There’s a crux to everything…and having to wait to see Djo in concert again is ours.
Joe Keery, known in the music world by his stage name Djo, stopped at Franklin Music Hall in Philadelphia, PA for his Back On You World Tour. Opening for him was none other than Post Animal, the psych-rock band Keery once played in. The chemistry between Keery and his former bandmates is undeniable. Watching them collaborate again onstage felt less like a performance and more like a reunion of old friends.
With one of the most anticipated shows of the year for Philadelphia on his shoulders, Keery brought the heat. Kicking off the show with “Runner,” the first song off his debut album DECIDE, was the perfect move to rally the crowd. I have genuinely never seen Franklin Music Hall so packed in my life. This concert was pure joy and had fans rallying together, jumping along to each song as everyone embraced each other.
One thing I admire about Joe Keery is his ability to tell a story through his music and this is why I believe, The Crux, will probably be one of my most listened to albums of 2025. This album explores themes like his sudden rise to fame, dealing with a relationship in the spotlight and even deep gratitude for those who’ve supported him—not just as a musician, but as an actor and a human being
The setlist leaned heavily on The Crux, and the crowd was here for it. We were treated to standout tracks like “Charlie’s Garden,” “Delete Ya,” “End of Beginning,” and even a surprise performance of the rare fan-favorite, “Egg.”
Before the encore, Keery closed the main set with “Potion,” one of my personal favorites from the new album. I find myself haunted, in the best way, by the lyrics: “I’ll try for all of my life, just to find someone who leaves on the light for me.” This song is a tribute to wanting to feel secure and loved. Ending the main set with this was heartfelt, vulnerable moment I’ll probably remember forever.
If Djo is playing near you, go. This tour is a must-see. Djo is also playing a few festivals this season if you’re looking for another chance to catch him live.
