I am super stoked to announce that I am now also writing for the sweet UK music blog and online radio station The Chaunt. This is one of my first posts for them but obviously I had to let you all know about this incredible new album by Richard Hawley out today in the US (finally!).
Richard Hawley is an absolute legend. You might know him from 1990s Brit-Pop group Longpigs, his playing with Pulp, his work with Elbow, or maybe his knee-weakening collaboration with another bunch of musicians from Sheffield, Arctic Monkeys track “You And I”?
Maybe this will be your first time hearing him, either way, it’s your lucky day. Richard Hawley has a new album out Standing at the Sky’s Edge available through Mute Records in the UK and in the US today!
From it he is releasing his new music video for his second single off the album “Down in the Woods”. The single is a perfect example of his mystical, entrancing vocals and his gritty, raw, textured and straight up mesmerizing guitar sound. Some of my favorite tracks from the album are “She Brings The Sunlight”, “Down In The Woods”, “Leave Your Body Behind You” and “Before”. Check out the new music video for “Down In The Woods” below and if you don’t have it already, buy this album now! Either from here or you local record store.
Richard Hawley is currently on tour in Europe and will be performing with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra on the 8th of September. Here is a peak behind-the-scenes:
