Philadelphia, PA – Excited rock & roll fans donning their concert-bests lined up around the block in anticipation of catching the electric performance of The Struts at The Fillmore on Saturday, July 22. The iconic venue located in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia was packed as music lovers gathered for the British four-piece’s final U.S. stop before they cross the pond to continue their “Remember the Name” tour in Europe. The band is touring to support their 4th record that we anticipate will come out this November.

The night started with Mac Saturn – a six-piece rock band with a classic sound hailing from Detroit, MI – opening the show with infectious energy in front of an enthusiastic crowd looking forward to an evening of non-stop, old-fashioned rock tracks. Primarily drawing from their “Until the Money Runs Out” debut EP, the eight-song set found frontman Carson Macc evoking the look and swagger of a modern-day Jim Morrison as he led the crowd through the Motor City act’s discography, including such songs as “Diamonds,” “Mr. Cadillac,” “Mint Julep,” and “Plain Clothes Gentleman.” Often found wielding a tambourine or a half-dozen maracas, Macc looked like a man possessed as he got the audience grooving to the beat throughout the show’s opening hour.

Of course, the night was only just beginning as the members of The Struts – lead vocalist Luke Spiller, guitarist Adam Slack, bassist Jed Elliott, and drummer Gethin Davies – each took their place on stage one at a time, greeted with rapturous applause by all in attendance.

“Philly has always been the best place to go,” exclaimed Jed, and the crowd went wild.

Featuring hits from their albums “Everybody Wants,” “Young & Dangerous,” and “Strange Days,” the set demonstrated the versatile English quartet’s influences, which include such prolific names as Queen and the Rolling Stones. Unsurprisingly, Spiller is very aware of his resemblance to a contemporary Freddie Mercury, at one point sitting at his United Kingdom flag-draped piano and leading the audience in a sing-a-long of the opening verse of “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

Highlights from the set comprised of seventeen songs, followed by three more during the encore, included “Dirty Sexy Money,” “Body Talks, “Too Good at Raising Hell,” a cover of the Lorde hit “Royals,” “Pretty Vicious,” and “Put Your Money on Me.”

“We’ve been touring since 2015. When we first hit the road, it was a terrible time to be a rock and roll band. In the past few years I’ve noticed a massive change” says Luke. “Rock ‘n roll is making a comeback. So if you discovered us two weeks ago or two months ago, thank you for giving our music and our career a chance. We love you, never change, see you next time!”

Joyful fans, both old and new, were left with a message of gratitude by the band for accompanying them on their journey as they bid farewell before traveling overseas to the international fans who eagerly await their arrival. Closing out the appearance was a passionate rendition of “Could Have Been Me” awash in a sea of gold confetti ribbons raining down from above.

The band is embarking on the rest of their North American schedule, commencing on November 3 in Las Vegas, NV, throughout the fall and early winter. Mac Saturn will continue supporting as special guests again in November.
