Photos and Words by Emily Cohen
When I saw UPSAHL was coming back through Philadelphia on tour I jumped at submitting my request to be in the photo pit again. After last year’s electric performance, I was sure she was going to be playing to a massive crowd this year. To my huge surprise, she’s still one of Pop music’s secret stars, upstairs at The Foundry there were less people than last year, which maybe had more to do with being on a Tuesday night. But you know what, y’all are missing out! You have got to put UPSAHL on your music rotation, you won’t regret it. Her catchy lyrics and undeniable dance beats will have you listening to her songs on repeat.
Hailing from Arizona on her 2nd headlining tour, Taylor Upsahl, who tours under her last name stylized in all caps, UPSAHL, came in hot at 10pm sharp in a baby blue latex set and a silver puffer coat. Performing with a kind of energy you’d see an artist give in front of thousands, instead of the 100 or so avid fans in the room, every song was full out and chock full of joy. “Going to see live music is the strongest drug I know” she told the crowd as she thanks them for coming out.
I for one can’t wait to hear what she puts out next and will continue to jump at the opportunity to see UPSAHL perform live.
