I have been impressed with Alex Clare’s effortless fusion of soul and electronic dance music. His voice has an unmatched aggressiveness while still maintaining a sweet sultry quality to his voice that can be heard in his far reaching hit “Too Close”. This year, the British singer-songwriter released his debut album The Lateness Of the Hour (produced by Mike Spencer and Major Lazer) through Island Records. Tonight, Alex Clare makes his 4th stop on this tour in Philadelphia, to perform the new record at the TLA. Some of my favorite tracks off the record are “Treading Water”, “Too Close”, and the sassy “Hands Are Clever” with lines like “I like cashmere I like your sweater both if you take it off we’ll both feel better, you know I’ll help you happily”… also pretty sure he promised me whiskey and chicken wings in this song…you had me at “whiskey”. I am so stoked to be able to catch him perform these songs live tonight! Make sure you grab your tickets if you haven’t already at the TLA. The show starts at 7PM! If you are outside of the Philly area check out his other show dates below and make sure you pick up his album The Lateness Of the Hour at your local record store!
