Ok Philly this is an epic, epic, week to be in town. With that said I peaced out and went to Austin…where a huge piece of my heart is an where I will be seeing The Cure, Arctic Monkeys, Atoms for Peace, Jake Bugg, Local Natives and a bunch of my other favorite bands all in one go..but that is literally another post.
While I am gone, I am expecting you to absolutely rage in my honor to all the epic shows happening in the Philly area. Here are some you MUST go to:
TONIGHT
Tame Impala / The Flaming Lips
Yes….I just said both of those artists…yes, together. They are playing at Festival Pier, tickets are sold out (obviously) so hopefully you got yours! If not, make friends quick! Just not with scalpers… I met the beauty/genius that is Wayne Coyne from The Flaming Lips in Austin this year at SXSW, and cannot wait to see Tame Impala again this weekend at ACL…but if I could clone myself I would also be in Philly tonight. The Flaming Lips and Tame Impala are guaranteed to put on a mind-melting show tonight at the pier.
Also tonight, absolute legend Blondie will take the stage at Keswick Theatre! The show starts at 8PM and you can still get tickets here!
Tomorrow October 4th
The Weeknd will be heading to Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden with a slew of incredible openers including Les Professionnels, Anna Lunoe and BANKS! I’ve been dying to see Banks live after hearing her new music so seeing her with The Weeknd is crucial, you cannot miss the opening acts on this bill. The show starts at 8PM, get your tickets here and remember, don’t be late to this one!
Next Monday October 7th:
Monday you have two epic shows in Philly!
Brother sister duo Wild Belle (who I am trying to catch this weekend at ACL) will be playing at First Unitarian Church with Saint Rich. Tickets are only $13 and you can purchase them here! Doors are at 8PM!
A show I am incredibly gutted to be missing is London Grammar at Underground Arts. This is London Grammar’s first tour in America and their first show in Philly. London Grammar have released some breathtaking, heartbreaking tracks I can’t get out of my head and I would love to be there supporting their first Philly show. I am begging as many of you as possible to go in my stead, take a million pictures, record everything and send it to me so I can pretend I was there. Tickets to London Grammar at Underground Arts next Monday at 8PM are only $10, get your tickets here! The time to see them is now when they are playing such a small intimate venue, in 6 months everyone will be obsessed with them and they will definitely be coming back to play much larger venues, I can feel it.
Next Tuesday October 8th:
The Naked and Famous are back in Philly playing The Electric Factory in support of their new record In Rolling Waves! The Colourist will open the show, make sure not to miss them. Tickets are only $22 and you can get them here!
Also Tuesday night, UK’s Palma Violets and NYC’s Skaters will be christening Philly’s new venue Boot & Saddle with sweat, alcohol, and an epic show you won’t forget. Tickets are only $13 and you can get them here. Doors are at 8PM and the show starts at 9PM!
Philly, I know I am gone for now, but there is now way you can be bored this week. Check out these shows and let me know how they are. Have an epic, safe, party filled week!!!
xx Cher
