Record Store Day this past weekend saw the release of some incredible new music, limited releases, and reissues of old favorites. One of my favorite new albums that released this weekend has to be Taka Come On, from NYC band Walking Shapes. The psychedelic garage band have gifted us with 13 new songs to dance to, fall in love to and get lost in. You can get the record now vinyl and cd here!
The band is finishing up a major tour on April 23rd at Asbury Park, NJ, and if you haven’t seen this band live yet you are truly missing out. The energy the entire band illuminates on stage (and off when lead singer Nathaniel Hoho is running out into the crowd and climbing on things) is infectious. If you are anywhere near the NYC area this Thursday, April 24th, now is the perfect time for you to experience them live. Walking Shapes will be playing 24 shows in 24 hours at unconventional places all over the city, ending with a show at Bowery Electric with Har Mar Superstar at 10pm. You can get your tickets now here! Follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and Songkick to keep up with and track where they are. You don’t want to miss it!
