Welp, I am starting to feel like I should just set up a cot at Union Transfer. Since returning from SXSW, I was there last Friday for Band of Skulls (be still my heart), and I am so stoked to be going there tonight to see Youth Lagoon and tomorrow night for the dance party that is Skream & Benga. Since it’s opening, Union Transfer has been my favorite venue in Philly. The venue is gorgeous, the perfect size and no matter where you stand in the venue you can see (I mean, unless there is a 6-7 foot person in front of you). Not to mention, many of my favorite bands and musicians have played there and/or are playing there soon.
Since I first heard Youth Lagoon last year, I made sure to go to every one of his Philly shows. I saw him open at Kung Fu Necktie, headline the small and sweaty Milkboy Cafe, and now I am so excited as he gets a little more air to breathe, and a lot more adoring fans fitting into Union Transfer tonight as he headlines a show with Dana Buoy as support. I love Youth Lagoon’s mixture of soft, slow songs, with fun, upbeat, and danceable tracks; as well as his honest, and heartfelt live shows. His music truly makes my heart happy. If you don’t have it already, make sure you get his brilliant album The Year of Hibernation here. I am excited to get my dancing exercise warmup tonight with him in preparation for the dancing shit show that will be Skream & Benga tomorrow, with one of my best friends, Lindsanity (Lindsy), who doesn’t leave the house to go out without at least 20 glowsticks. By some miracle, there are still tickets available for the Youth Lagoon show tonight, so buy yours here and meet me there, I’d love to dance with you, and slow dance with you. Doors are at 8, show starts at 8:30! Don’t live in Philly? Check out the rest of his tour dates below.
Support Supporting Bands! The show starts at 8:30 (doors at 8) so make sure you get there on time to see the opener (possibly your new favorite band) Dana Buoy!
