I have a MAJOR music crush on Poliça. Their gorgeous album “Give You The Ghost” gets me so excited about music. I first song I heard from Poliça was their single “Dark Star” from the album, and I could not get it out of my head or heart. I needed to hear more. The more songs I heard, including “Wandering Star” and the album’s opening track, “Amongster” I knew it was love at first listen. As I expected the album as a whole is one of my absolute favorites for this year. Full of sexy slow and danceable songs, raw, honest, vocals and storytelling lyrics, the album is a perfect soundtrack to soothe heartbreak and give strength. The band from Minneapolis, Minnesota was one of the top breakout bands of SXSW this year, rightfully gaining a huge buzz after their shows at the festival. The band recently played a sold out show at Kung Fu Necktie in Philadelphia and are coming back next Wednesday to play Johnny Brenda’s.
