lovelovelove: Sun Airway “Soft Fall” album out now / on tour with M83 / playing Making Time in Philly tomorrow!!!

Tuesday I journeyed to NYC to see one of my favorite bands, Sun Airway, open up for another one of my favorite bands M83. Their glorious new album Soft Fall dropped the same day and you can buy it now on purple vinyl through SC Distribution, digitally through iTunes, or best yet at your local record store.

Their first single from the record, “Close” has a gorgeous newly released video directed and produced by Ewan MacLeod. The video couldn’t be a more perfect reflection of the song.

After taking a two-hour bus ride to NYC (and thus an hour and a half disco-nap) I was glad to see the venue was absolutely beautiful. It was a perfect setting to see them play. The band started at 8PM and with a mist of fog. The reflection of the light show on the fog encapsulating the band brought a mysticism to hearing the new album live. I was so stoked to hear some of my favorite tracks off the new album. I narrowed my favorite songs from the 11-song album down to 5: “New Movements”, “Close”, “Wild Palms”, “Soft Fall” with an emphasis on “Black Noise”. The album is definitely part of my future Wes Anderson-directed biographical film soundtrack and a must-buy.

Tomorrow night they will be playing a special $2 Making Time at Voyeur in Philly before continuing their tour with M83 (dates below). Doors are at 9PM and there will be free Sailor Jerry Rum Drinks and PBR til it runs out (so getting there earlier is better). I am going with a gaggle of the best girls in this city and can not wait to get my dance on until 3:30 AM! See you there, Philly. For the rest of the US make sure you catch Sun Airway and M83 on the rest of their tour.
