Off the heels of their album Go Farther In Lightness (out now), Gang of Youths returned to Philly to play an epic, sold-out show at Underground Arts! The high energy set sent electricity through the air of the venue and hit every fan like a bolt of lightning. The five-piece band dominated the stage of this intimate venue and wooed their sold-out crowd.
With no barricade at the venue, fans got the most up close and personal experience. Interacting with the crowd at every chance he gets, lead singer and guitar player David Le’aupepe gave fans a close up view as he played over the crowd and kicked out his solos. He’s known for jumping into seas of fans and getting lost in the crowd!
Dave’s charismatic on-stage antics demanded your attention while the rest of band backed him up with a cool presence of pure rock. The band dynamic is a perfect match for these guys. Fans looked in awe as they finally got the chance to see this Australian band of babes.
The band spoke highly of Bruce Springsteen and mentioned how his song Streets of Philadelphia not only pumped them up to play our city, but inspired a lot of their songwriting.
Dave explained the fan-band relationship the best, “We love you guys a fuck ton.”
Seriously, we enjoyed every minute of their set and the only thing we could wish for just one more song (or ten). The US tour is practically sold-out and their UK tour is coming up quick, so make sure you get tickets to a city near you! Tour dates are listed below.
