Ibeyi performed a killer set at the Lounge at World Cafe Live this Saturday. The sister act brought their world music fusion to Philadelphia fans who had been awaiting the show since October, after it was rescheduled. It was well worth the wait!

Lisa and Naomi Diaz are twin sisters from a musical family with Afro-Cuban, Venezuelan, and French roots. Ibeyi reflects their cultural heritage and experiences growing up together as young women. They sing in four languages: English, Spanish, French and Yoruba and play multiple instruments.

Ibeyi’s live show is an immersive experience. They perform with a live band and sing layers upon layers of vocal harmonies. Fans sing and dance along as they journey through all different musical genres and moods.

After the set, Lisa met with fans at the merch table to sign autographs and pose for photos. Her generosity with her fans was touching as she took the time to speak with each fan. Normally Naomi would have joined her, but she wasn’t feeling well that night.

Opening the show was Ojerime, an R&B singer from London who has a strong following of fans in Philly singing along to all her lyrics. Her music is a soulful mix of trap, R&B, and hip-hop with a nostalgic feel.
