Kicking off their North American Fall Tour at Union Transfer was the best gift The Japanese House could’ve given Philadelphia. The Japanese House hasn’t toured since 2019, making this the first time they’ve hit Philadelphia to perform in about 4 years.
“In the End It Always Does,” Amber Bain’s sophomore album as The Japanese House, debuted June 30th, 2023. This album was love at first listen for us and features influences from Matty Healy and George Daniel (The 1975),
Katie Gavin (MUNA) and Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon – plus many more!
This was our first time getting the privilege to see The Japanese House live and we can confidently say that Bain sounds almost identical to the studio versions of her songs. Bain played the majority of her new album while still featuring old hits such as “Something Has To Change” and “Saw You In A Dream.”
The was a concert that had us in awe from start to finish. Bain didn’t need theatrics or overly captivating visuals to play one of the best shows of 2023. We cannot recommend this tour enough. Whether you’re a life long TJH fan or not, you won’t regret immersing yourself in Bain’s performance.
