Philly (and NYC), this week is going to rule!! The British dream otherwise know as Sam Smith has successfully flown to America and arrived in NYC.
Tomorrow I am heading to NYC to see his sold out show at Mercury Lounge!! I can’t wait to hear some of his new music live, including “Safe With Me”, “Lay Me Down”, and maybe even the acoustic version of the song that made me fall in love with his voice in the first place “Latch”. I am so stoked to see one of my favorite artists for the first time, and get some much needed time catching up with my friends in NYC!
On Friday, I am heading back to Philly to talk to Canadian Psych Rock babes Elephant Stone before their show at Kung Fu Necktie with Vacant Lots and Pill Friends!! The show starts at 8PM and is only $10, you can get your tickets here or at the door.
Elephant Stone was formed by sitarist/bassist Rishi Dhir in 2009. Dhir is the sitar player for the psychedelic music scene and has recorded with many artists including The Black Angels, Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Horrors and most recently played sitar for Beck at the Osheaga Music and Arts Festival in Montreal. This year, Elephant Stone played SXSW, Austin Psych Fest, and toured with The Black Angels and The Zombies. Their heavy, rich, spellbinding self-titled new album is available now on Vinyl, CD, Cassette, and digitally here. You can stream the entire album below via their Soundcloud. I absolutely cannot wait for Philly music fans to witness this epic show!
On Saturday night, one of my favorite (breathtaking) producers Julio Bashmore will be at Morgan’s Pier to heat up the dance floor and give you your workout for the weekend. The event starts at 9PM and tickets are only $5! You can get them here or at the door, but make sure you get there early/on time because this is a dance party you can’t miss!
